What types of travel can be arranged through DTS?

The Defense Travel System (DTS) is specifically designed to facilitate the management of travel related to official military and government business. The types of travel that can be arranged through DTS include official duty travel, temporary duty travel (TDY), and permanent change of station (PCS) travel.

Official duty travel refers to travel undertaken by military and civilian personnel for government purposes, which is often necessary for a variety of missions and operations. Temporary duty travel involves missions that require an individual's presence in a location other than their permanent duty station for a limited duration. Permanent change of station travel is related to relocating personnel from one duty station to another as part of their service commitment.

In contrast, the other options do not align with the intended use of the DTS system. International travel may be a part of official duty travel, but it does not encompass the full range of travel types arranged via DTS. Business travel or personal travel is not relevant to DTS, as the system is focused on official government travel.
